The name of the blog

So to get to my blog you have to type in iwanttoflyaway so I thought I would share a little bit about that. I am a traveler at heart, but do to family life which I have chosen freely, and love very much...but it does make travel limited, with everyone having different schedules and different opinions in where to go. Occasionally I get the opportunity to travel and still dream about it all the time, hence the new background. In the future I am going to change up my layout to highlight a place I would like to travel to.

The ocean has always been one place that has always appealed to me and when I am near it you can tell by the look on my face, how much I enjoy the wind whipping my hair, the taste of salt on my lips and the sun on my face.

In about 5 days I get the chance to visit the beautiful ocean again. I am going to Puerto Rico for 6 days and cannot wait. I am doing this as a graduation present to myself paid for of course by my loving family who so graciously gave me gifts of cash for graduation. I will be keeping a daily journal of all that I do so that when I return I can report all the fun things I did, including pics of course. I will fly solo to and from PR, but my friend Angie and her family are there and have invited me to stay with them while I am there. Ang and I both just graduated and are looking forward to this time of relaxation.

So what else has been going on, of course I graduated two weeks ago from nursing school, so now I have my BSN and as soon as I take the boards on the 9th of Jan. I will get my license and be able to practice as a RN. I am still working and will continue to work int eh emergency department. It was so busy last night and I know I have said this before, but you think you've seen it all and then something else comes through the door and it floors you. That is why I love the ED, it is something different everyday.

The fam is doing great. Bodhi will be turning 11 on inauguration day and is so excited that Barack is being sworn in on his birthday. Bodhi and Luke are fascinated by Barack, not sure why, but that is ok. The hubby is still in school and will be for a while. Tara and I have been watching a lot of movies together and hanging out with her friends and I have really enjoyed it.

Well like I said look for the upcoming PR blogs. I work the next two nights and then it is off I go so I probably will not post until I return.

Have a good one....

Slippery When Frozen

So I took the boys ice skating last night, what a learning experience that was. Bodhi of course took off doing laps around the rink like he has been skating everyday for the last year, Luke now that is a different story. I am ok to skate on my own, but when trying to keep a 5 year old up on his skates, things get ugly. Luke kept saying "go faster, go faster" I said I can't, but he didn't believe me. I think it took us 20 minutes to make the first lap around at which time I tightened up Luke's skates and things got better. We saw a little girl who was kind of marching with her arms out for balance, so I told Luke to do the same thing and after that the night got better.

After we were done skating there was a college hockey game going on in the other rink and of course the boys wanted to watch. They were standing by the glass and I could see that Bodhi was admiring the goalie (his dream job). He loves hockey so much. After one team would score they would play music at which time Luke would bust out on air guitar. After a fight broke out right in front of us (which was very cool to the boys, well and me) I decided we should go home because it was getting late.

We had a great time together, I am sore today, just goes to show my body is getting older. Well I have to head off to a long night of work so take care. Have a good one...

It's About Time

Well it is the end of the semester. I have two finals left and I graduate in 8 days. This semester was full of busy work and some projects. I have accepted a job in the emergency department. I can't wait to take my boards. I have a NCLEX review course coming up the week after graduating, and then it is just a waiting game to see when and where I can take my exam. Until that time I will be studying, ok throw a little partying in there for my accomplishment.

Joe has done one more class toward his degree and will start his next class in one week. As far as work goes he moved inside and will be working all winter. He got two deer shotgun weekend, so lots of meat for us all year long! We just celebrated 6 years last weekend, however I had to work so nothing exciting.

Bodhi is doing good, always doing homework and talking about hockey. He is going to be 11 soon, I can hardly believe it. Luke is himself as usual, always playing with his dirt bikes and making ramps out of everything he can find. I got him snow pants so he can play outside at school, but he is so peculiar about how his clothes sit on his shoes. It can be very difficult getting to the bus on time when his pants aren't hitting his boots just right or his sleeves aren't rolled to just the right length. I hope he grows out of this fast. Tara is growing up so much. We have a lot of fun when she is over, and she enjoys shopping of course and going to movies. She is in a creative writing class and I am so proud of her.

Tonight I am taking the boys ice skating and hopefully Tara and her sis Stacie to Barnes and Nobles to get books and drink hot cocoa. I have to work tomorrow night so I will be sleeping most of the day Sat. and of course on Sun. Monday is my first final.

Oh one last note, while my mom is still fatigued most of the time, she is in remission. I am thankful for this. Well talk to you soon as major things are taking place in the next week!
Have a Good One!!!

OUCH!!

Okay so I have been working on losing weight for a few weeks now and am down 7lbs. I have also started to run and joined a ED softball team. I have muscles hurting that I have not felt in a while. It is ok though as the saying goes "no pain...no gain".

I have exactly one week to go til my last semester starts. I am trying to finish a book, a prayer shawl I am crocheting, and want to get in a few movies before my social life comes to a screaching halt, like it does every other semester. It would be fabulous if I accomplished this list. We will see I do have the weekend off so it is very possible.

My friend Deena is having a benefit for her daughter Maia, I have blogged about her before. Anyway she was born with spina bifida and her folks are trying to raise funds so that they can set the house up for her, like a lift from upstairs to downstairs. She is paralyzed from the waist down. Tickets are $20 and there are really cool raffle items, silent auction and live auction items. The money also includes a meal. So come out and support this beautiful little babe. Oh and it is at TNT's in East Peoria. Come one come all!

Now really can you resist helping this cutie?

I guess that is all for tonight, I am going to get started on one of those movies right now. Have a good one!

I am alive !!!

Well sorry that I haven't been blogging lately. I have been out of town 5 of the last 6 weeks for various reasons. I will be blogging on these trips and things in the next couple of weeks. I have a lot of pics to download and all that before i blog about them.
On Sunday I got a call from a good friend from school, Lori's daughter had been in a horse accident and was being Lifelighted to OSF. She asked if I would meet her daughter there because she wouldn't make it as fast as the helicopter. I showed up and to my surprise 2 minutes after the helicopter landed Lori arrived. She was flying too. Marlee ended up being fine the hospital in Bloomington thought they saw a bleed on the brain, however OSF did not see these things. She was admitted to PICU overnight and sent home the next day. Everyone is doing fine thank God. This is the second friend from Bloomington in about a two month time frame that has been Lifelighted to Peoria. I hope this is not becoming a trend.
School starts in two weeks for me, it is my last semester of nursing school. I can hardly believe that I am almost done. My children are doing great and enjoying their last week of freedom before school starts. Joe is busy with work and fishes when ever he gets the oppportunity. That's my man bringin home the meat. Well I am at work so I am going to get going for now. Have a good one!!!

Prayer Request

I got a call from my friend Melissa who was working in NICU tonight and she was crying. She had gotten a call from her husband that her 4 y/o was hit by a car. I told her to be careful driving back home to Bloomington. Logan ended up being a trauma transfer to our ED. Melissa arrived shortly after and she got to come in to be with him. He was very lucky and sustained minor injuries. He is staying overnight in the hospital and hopefully if all checks out ok he will be able to go home soon. Just pray for strength for him and his parents and all the Dr's and nurses involved in his care. Thank you in advance for your prayers. God Bless!!

Movie Review

On Friday the 13th HAMJAR decided to do a double feature of "scary" movies. We always plan as a group to go see the latest scary films. The night began by meeting at Old Navy because we all needed clothing from thre. Next we headed to Willow Knolls. The line to get in was long so we were hoping they were all going to see the Hulk instead of the show we picked.
We started off with the Strangers. This was a very frightening movie and Woo Woo had already seen it. Candi and I screamed at the top of our lungs throughout this film. The suspense was great, but was temporarily ruined by the teens in our row texting and talking on their cell phones. I decided to tell an usher because it was really screwing up my movie experience. The music in the film was really wierd and the ending was not as scary as the rest of the film had been, just gory (sp?).
The next film we watched was The Happening. M. Night Shamylan has always put out good psychological thrillers and I love to watch his films. This movie was interesting, had some unneccesary gore. It did have some comedic moments that made it good. I am pretty sure this film was M. Night's vision on global warming, but it was very different. I wouldn't waste money at the theater to see this, maybe just check it out on dvd when it comes out.
We did see previews for our next scary adventure so we are looking forward to Mirrors when it hits the big screen.
After the film we headed our seperate ways. I went home and read a little bit before going to sleep. I was going fishing the next morning and needed to get a decent amount of rest since we were getting up at 5am. Well I think that covers Friday night. Hope you are all having a great weekend.
Coming soon...fathers, fishing, and fighting!
Have a good one!
